Abies grandis

An uncommon Abies at the Park, Grand Fir grows along river banks at lower elevations, often in impoverished soils. A stand of old trees grows near the Nisqually entrance. The photo shows the shallowly furrowed grayish bark.

The needles are attached to the sides of the branches, imparting a flattened appearance.
