Mt. Rainier Flora -- Asarum caudatum -- (wild ginger)

presented by Susan McDougall

Asarum caudatum

The common name is derived from the ginger scent of the rootstocks. The heartshaped leaves are borne on stalks and the flowers are tucked at the base of the plant. The flowers are composed of 3 purplish sepals with slender, long lobes.
