Carex obnupta

Growing near the hotel at Longmire, this is a sedge more typically found in the Puget Trough. It is a recent arrival in the Park where it is growing vigorously.

Carex obnupta

The spikes are somewhat arching, with a long leafy bract, and the perigynia are dark and beaked. Growing in disturbed soils, the plants appear somewhat weedy. The plants may reach four feet in height.
