Eriogonum pyrolifolium

Common above 5,500 feet on rocky ground, this tufted buckwheat has oval leaves with small hairs above and woolly beneath.

Eriogonum pyrolifolium

Two narrow bracts are found at the base of the small flowers, which are borne in an umbel. This is variety coryphaeum.
