Eriophyllum lanatum

A common Aster Family member alongside roads and other dry sites, the bright yellow flowers poke above tufted plants.

Eriophyllum lanatum

The leaves are somewhat woolly and the flowers have 6-15 ligules. In dry places, this is locally perhaps the most common aster, growing from elevations of 2,000 to more than 6,000 feet. This is variety lanatum.
