Mt. Rainier Flora -- Festuca subulata -- (Bearded Fescue)

presented by Susan McDougall

Festuca subulata

Unique among fescues, this tall plant has leafy stems for most of the length; the lower blades are wide. Somewhat common in the lower subalpine open habitats, here it grows on a ridgetop.
