Mt. Rainier Flora -- Geum macrophyllum -- (Bigleaf Avens)

presented by Susan McDougall

Geum macrophyllum

Common in lowland open woods, alongside roads and trails, and in meadows, this Rose Family member may go unobserved in dense foliage, but the flowers are easily seen on their tall stem. The leaves are pinnately divided into rounded leaflets, with the terminal leaflet much larger than those on the side. The flowers are borne in an open, flat-topped cluster.
