The petals are purple. Here the photo shows maturing heads, which bend downward. This is variety capitatum.

Hydrophyllum capitatum

A species of dry habitat east of the Cascades, Ballhead Waterleaf comes into the Park on the Crystal Mountain ridgeline. The pinnate leaves are deeply lobed.
