Mt. Rainier Flora -- Lewisia triphylla -- (Three-leaf Lewisia)

presented by Susan McDougall

Lewisia triphylla

Apparently more common in the past, this small Lewisia is reliably seen at Box Canyon on the south side of the Park. There it grows in large numbers, adding the pinkish flower color to the thin, rocky substrate of the slope above the canyon. This is a small plant with narrow stems, threadlike leaves and several flowers on short stems.
