Easily recognized by the prickly appearance of the inflorescence, an attribute derived from the many awns, this timothy typically grows above 6,000 feet in meadow habitat; here the plants grow near the sidewalk below the Paradise Visitor Center. There is also a weedy timothy at the Park with a more cylindrical inflorescence.
