Pinguicula vulgaris

The common names is derived from the yellow-green leaves, which are sticky and slimy. Their purpose of the stickiness is apparent when a close examination reveals black spots -- trapped insects for this insectivorous plant.

Pinguicula vulgaris

A low plant, sometimes obscured by surrounding vegetation, the flowers are lavender/purple with a whitish throat; they are two-lipped with two lobes above and three below. They are spurred and borne singly on stiff stems.
