Mt. Rainier Flora -- Saxifraga cespitosa -- (Tufted Saxifrage)

presented by Susan McDougall

Saxifraga cespitosa

Tufted Saxifrage grows on rocky ridges and slopes from 7,000-8,500 feet. Thus, it requires hiking for an encounter. The photo shows the ripening seed capsules. The petals are round and white, and the leaves are tightly packed.
