photos by Susan McDougall

Spiraea X hitchcockii

A hybrid between Menzie's Spirea (S. douglasii var. menziesii) and Rosy Spirea (S. densiflora), this spirea is uncommon. Here a large thicket thrives at Mountain Meadows on the northwest side of the Park.

Spiraea X hitchcockii

The inflorescence is somewhat pyramidal, but the flowers are pale pink. The leaves are oval and toothed above the midpoint. They are smooth, like Menzie's Spirea.
