Vaccinium ovatum

A lowland evergreen huckleberry, this species is exceedingly rare at the Park, although it may have been more common in the past. Here a browsed plant reveals the reddish new growth.

Vaccinium ovatum

The sharply toothed, small leaves are rounded and deep green. The fruits are small, dark blue, and very edible.
