Mt. Rainier Flora -- Vaccinium scoparium -- (Grouseberry)

Vaccinium scoparium

Low and "broomlike" with stiff, erect branches, this is a Vaccinium of middle to subalpine habitat, growing to elevations of 7,000 feet. It is a deciduous plant, with pale green, toothed leaves.

The berries are reddish-purple and small.
