More common east of the Cascade Crest, this species grows in small numbers along the slopes of Crystal Peak. The flowers are borne in groups of 1-3 on long stalks. The bracts are hairy, and the rays nearly an inch in length.

The heart-shaped leaves are a good field mark for this species; they are borne on stalks approximately the same length as the leaf.
