This sedge is rare at the Park; here it grows on a rocky seasonally wet slope along the Comet Falls trail. It is small and tufted, with inrolled leaves.

The spikes are arranged in a loose cluster, with the female at the top, and the sacks surrounding the seeds (the perigynia) are gold-colored.
