A very rare low elevation rush, here growing in a river bed, Slender Rush is a tufted perennial that can reach a height of 4 feet.The leaves are basal, and the plants tufted.

The flowers are borne in a terminal inflorescence that can be rather open or comapact. They are greenish to pale brown.
