The nodding flowers are pinkish when in bud and then transform to blue or blue-violet.

This species grows from the lowlands to subalpine slopes, often alongside streams or other moist, open habitats. This is variety borealis.

As much as 3 feet tall, with lancelike to oval leaves, and bright blue bell-shaped flowers, Tall Bluebells brightens stream banks and cliffsides alike throughout the Park.
