Phyllodoce empetriformis -- (Pink Heather)
The rose-pink flowers are bell-shaped with the petals turned back. The evergreen leaves are short and curved.

An evergreen shrub, Pink Heather is the most common heather at the Park. Fields of pink sometimes await the visitor in the subalpine region; it can grow at elevations of 8,000 feet.

On occasion, different flower colors may be seen. Here the color is more salmon-pink, and the plant stands out among the other more conventional forms.
