Mt. Rainier Flora --
Pinus ponderosa -- (Ponderosa Pine)
Very rare at the Park, there is a small but healthy population alongside the Crystal Peak trail. The flexible needles are in groups of three and as much as six inches long.

The bark of young trees is gray and somewhat platy. Old trees have reddish, deeply grooved bark.
