The tall spike, closely packed with pure white flowers, is a beautiful addition to lowland meadows throughout the Park. Here a colony of plants grows at Longmire Meadow, some of the stems nearly three feet tall.

A long spur and spreading petals characterize the flowers, and the plants are sometimes referred to as "bog candles". This is variety leucostachys.
