The pinkish to white flowers are borne in both the leaf axils and at the end of the stem. They may be closed and have overlapping petals.

The leaves are borne on the stems and at the base of the sprawling plants. Here in open, dry habitat, the leaves are reddish to pale green in color.

Known from only one location at the Park, this is a small annual of dry habitat, typically growing from low to middle elevations. Here it is established in a recent landslide near the Ranger Station at the White River.
