The yellow flowers are small but prominent. This species was formerly known as Ranunculus verecundus and R. grayi.

Found only on the east side of the Park, this is an uncommon buttercup of rocky slopes. The 3-lobed, toothed leaves are primarily basal, and the stem typically has a single flower. The stems and leaves are hairless.
