Rhododendron albiflorum

A deciduous Heather Family shrub with spreading branches,this azalea may go unnoticed until the blossoms open. Then the shrub is transformed into a mass of white, particularly on open, moist slopes in the subalpine zone.

Rhododendron albiflorum

The white flowers are borne in clusters below new growth. They are somewhat bell-shaped and nearly an inch wide.

Rhododendron albiflorum

Although this rhododendron achieves its largest form in open habitat, it is also seen in forest settings and alongside trails. This is variety albiflorum.
