Sambucus racemosa

Very common at the Park from low to elevations of 5,500 feet, Red Elderberry is most easily observable when in flower. The flowers are in a tall pyramidal cluster and are creamy white.

The shrubs may reach 15 feet in height. The leaves are pinnately divided and toothed.

The berries are bright red. Here the shrub grows on a moist slope. This is variety racemosa.
