Mt. Rainier Flora -- Sceptridium multifidum -- (Leathery Grapefern)

presented by Susan McDougall

Sceptridium multifidum

The most common and largest Grapfern at the Park, this species is not a true fern at all. The plants have a single blade and a spore-bearing structure that rises above the leaf. The sporangia resemble little grapes.
