Mt. Rainier Flora -- Sedum lanceolatum -- (Spear-leaf Stonecrop)

presented by Susan McDougall

Sedum lanceolatum

The leaves of this sedum are narrow, somewhat flattened, barely incurved, and alternate on the stems. The yellow flowers have five sepals and five petals. Most common on the north and east sides of the Park, here the plants grow on open rocky ground near the Park boundary. In this photo, the Sedum leaves are barely visible beneath the bright green leaves of a chickweed. This is variety lanceolatum.
