Most often found on the east side of the Park, this tightly matted silene is unmistakable. The flowers are bright pink and when in full bloom, cover the ground-hugging plant.

The cushion may be 2-3 feet across, and the tiny leaves are fringed with hairs. This species is a member of the Pink Family.
