Fairly common in subalpine meadows and rocky sites, this is a tufted plant with 2-foot tall stems. The flower blade is divided into 2 lobes, each of which is divided again.

The two-inch long basal leaves are narrow; the stem leaves are smaller. Each stem has 2-4 flowers.
