Two varieties of this lowland spirea grow at the Park. This variety (douglasii) is locally common on swampy ground and alongside ponds.

Uncommon, but found in similar habitats as variety douglasii, this is variety menziesii. It is identified by the smooth leaves that are glaucous beneath. Here it grows in the swampy ground below the road at the Ohanapecosh Campground entrance.
